This page is here just to give you an idea. Anyone actually preparing to come would be given fresh up to the minute advice.
- Yellow fever (valid for 10 years) is essential. You will have to present a valid certificate for this at the airport on arrival.
- Hepatitis B. This is a Chad field requirement. If possible have the full course of injections before coming to Chad; this takes at least 6 months. If you do not have enough time, bring the remaining injections with you. Remember that they must be kept chilled!
- Hepatitis A. Since a vaccine against this is now available, we strongly recommend that everyone have this as hepatitis is endemic here. A full course takes about 1 month, but often is given at the same time as Hepatitis B. It cannot yet be obtained in Chad.
- Meningitis. There is a lot of meningitis here and we recommend a vaccination if it is available where you are living. We recommend it for adults as well as children.
- Tetanus
- Polio
- Rabies. Not essential, but to be considered if you plan to have a dog or cat or have contact with animals.
- Children should have the normal vaccinations necessary in their home countries.
